The Orange Tree Hereford is known for its extensive selection of real ales, featuring at least ten hand pumps that showcase local brews. The knowledgeable bartenders enhance the experience, guiding patrons through their choices with enthusiasm. Many visitors appreciate the cozy atmosphere with exposed beams and an open fire, reminiscent of traditional English pubs. The pub also features periodic live music and performances, contributing to a lively social scene on weekends. The welcoming landlady and attentive staff create personal connections with guests, enhancing the feeling of belonging. The casual vibe invites groups of friends to unwind over drinks or engage in friendly games like dominos, fostering a sense of community.

Most Disliked

While many love the charm of The Orange Tree, some guests express disappointment over the lack of hot food options. Instead, the menu features classic pub snacks like pork pies and generously sized cobs, which may not satisfy those looking for a full meal. Additionally, the pub can get quite busy, particularly on Saturday evenings, with a 100% capacity which may lead to a longer wait for drinks. Some guests mention that quieter times make for a more enjoyable experience, as the lively atmosphere can become overwhelming. Parking can also be a concern during peak hours, requiring visitors to plan ahead or arrive early to secure a spot.

This is a lovely proper pub with exposed beams wooden panelling and an open fire. There is a good range of beers and a very welcoming landlady. It doesn't do hot food but has pork pies and generously sized cobs available. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the bar was pleasantly busy.

Fantastic little pub in the centre of Hereford. A great selection of hand pulled beer and cider for a very reasonable price. Very helpful staff, we were pointed to the games and played dominos while we had some delicious beers in the warm. Highly recommend. They also do a great selection of sarnies and pub snacks.

What a beautiful evening, steeped in history & architecture what a wonderful building. It was extremely easy to soak up the atmosphere. It was spotless & Grace was a fountain of knowledge, not only of the surrounding area but far afield to!! We did not eat on this occasion but I'm sure if we had it would have met the high standard of the rest of the place!!

A quick pint in a lovely clean 'proper' pub serving some really good ales. Bar staff attentive and knowledgeable. 10 hand pumps plus 2 real ciders, a great selection. This pub is definitely worth a visit next time you are in Hereford. Local businesses need your custom. Let's not let another local pub be turned into offices or flats!!

On a short trip to Hereford, my wife and I spotted the Orange Tree while walking from the railway station to our hotel. We liked the look of it so decided to come back that same day and were delighted with our choice of pub. We love real ale, and they have a whole row of pumps (three Black Country Ales beers plus numerous guests). In the course of three visits over three days, all the beers we had were in great shape. Foodwise, there are two choices of filled rolls: ham salad and cheese and onion. We tried both and they were very tasty. They also offer hot pies but we didn't try those. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Finally, as our visit coincided with a major heatwave, we were grateful for the air-conditioning inside the pub.
